Chair's Message

It is my pleasure once again to present Milen Care’s Annual Report, for the period from 2024 to 2025, which I hope you will find informative.

At Milen Care our aim is always to provide the best possible care for our Members. Our members are always at the centre of everything we do. Our staff do their utmost to provide an environment where Members can relax and be treated with dignity and respect and valued as individuals

This year has been a productive year as we have been able to consolidate our work in a number of areas and make progress in our efforts for continuous improvements in our practice and service delivery. Our Manager has been actively leading on improvements in the areas of case recordings, care planning and risk assessment processes. Our staff have been provided with support through team meetings and ongoing training in relevant areas.

This year thanks to the efforts of our Manger, staff and Committee members we have successfully raised sufficient funds for our new wellness garden. This will be of great benefit to our Members. We would like to thank Kirklees Council for supporting us with the fundraising. We also want to thank everyone who contributed to the fundraising. We plan to complete the garden in the next few months.

I am also very pleased to report that we have taken over the management of the Sahara Project and we will do our best to support and enhance the services. This project provides wellbeing support for women in a safe and supportive space.

We have made good progress in marketing and promoting our services with new leaflets and banners. We are now working on making improvements to our website.

Following our internal review we have managed to make progress in the areas mentioned above. For the coming year we will continue our work in these areas:

– Working with Kirklees and other partners to contribute to developing culturally sensitive services for those suffering from Dementia.

– Further partnerships building with other groups, including local service providers.

– To further increase our intake of Members through targeted outreach work in the community to identify groups who can benefit from day care services and support, including adults over 18 with disabilities

I would like to thank everyone who has supported Milen Care during the year including all the agencies who have worked with us. I would also like to thank all our User Members and Carers for being part of our Milen family. We also greatly appreciate the contribution that volunteers make to our service.

I would also like to express my special thanks to Kirklees Council and in particular I want to thank Gill Neale our Contract Manager for the excellent support and guidance we continuously receive from her.

I am very sad to report that we lost more Members over the last year, we pass on our condolences to their families, and we remember all of them in our prayers.

Finally, I would like to thank our Executive Committee, our Operational Group, our Manager and all our staff for their positive contribution and commitment to supporting Milen Care in our efforts to serve all our valued Members and their Carers.
